My Glossier Pet Painting Experience

One Friday evening in April, I got an email. An email that made me go “Nooooo..?” and “Wait, this isn’t real” and “What do they MEAN?!?”. I’ve always had a little flair of the dramatics.

But that email was from Glossier. And they were asking me to paint pets for them in their London store. And as a little pet portrait artist who assumes no one’s looking at their work, it blew my mind. If I thought that this would happen, the start of my event page wouldn't go: “When there’s a Pet Event, In your neighbourhood, Who you gonna call? Fuzzleduck.” But hey ho, it entertained me and didn’t put them off

Although it isn’t something I’ve shared here, I love make-up. As a teenager, I wasn’t much of a painter (yet), and makeup was definitely a creative outlet for me. In the 2010’s being into the makeup world meant I KNEW about Glossier. I remember being excited for their launches, and some of those products are still staples for me today. Boy Brow and Futuredew are unmatched. And I wore their original You perfume on my wedding day, and it came with me on my honeymoon.

So to make this clear, this was a dream email to get.

But for the event, I was super nervous. This brand that I loved, I had to do a good job. And I think I did. I did 62 paintings for their customers across the 2 days, and I loved every second. The Glossier staff and customers are the nicest people I’ve ever worked with. It was a dreamy weekend. Highlights were painting my first boyfriend/girlfriend dogs, painting complete with a cupid's heart, and painting my first Bernese Mountain Dog.

I feel so proud and excited to have taken part in this event and launch, even in just a small way.

Opportunities like this would never come my way if it weren’t for all the support I’ve received these past couple of years. So if you’ve ordered a painting or chatted or market or even just read this blog post. Thank you. Creating Fuzzleduck is an absolute dream, and events like these make me feel so lucky that I get to create work to thats celebrates your pets.
