Why Spring Markets are my Absolute Favourite

Spring is my Favourite season. I know, autumn gets a lot of hype, and the cosy colours are lovely. But spring blooms and longer days and the sun peeking through after endless grey clouds. I don’t think there is a better feeling.

So why are spring markets the best? I can now go to outdoor markets without freezing my toes off. And without being dressed up like the Michelin man. I don’t fare well in the cold, and it is an unfortunate workplace hazard. I prefer not to fear that my internal body temperature will hit absolute zero.

Everyone is always in a good mood because of the sunshine in the spring. And I always feel as though I have more energy. I think I’m actually part plant, and need to photosynthesise to reach my full energetic capacity. This often just makes my day easier. The people I talk to are naturally in a good mood, and because I’m happy, energetic, and the paintings dry quickly in the spring breeze, I often get more work done.

Also, spring always feels like a fresh start, a lil new beginning. Like, if I’m not near my New Year's goals yet, it’s okay. This is another fresh start. Another chance to think about what I’m doing and where I’m going. I like that I can adjust the plan if I want. I also just enjoy planning - makes me a nerd, I know.

I hope you like spring half as much as me I’m sure you’re excited to get out in the sun. My favourite spring events are not just the general markets but the actual community events. I’m talking village fete, or annual spring festivals.

Soon I’m heading to Barkway market (Royston), Wagfest (Saffron Walden) and Oakfest (Hitchin). These are all excellent local community events; you’ll be surprised by how much talent is on your doorstep at these ones. Often events like these support amazing causes like Oakfest - so do some good whilst you’re feeling good this spring ☀️
